Rev. Foy Lee Spivey, Beloved Minister, Passes Away at 88

BREAKING NEWS: Rev. Foy Lee Spivey, a cherished minister and missionary pilot, has passed away at the age of 88. His family reports that he continued preaching until just a week before his death, leaving behind a legacy of faith and service.

Born on October 2, 1934, near Tallahassee, Florida, Rev. Spivey showed an extraordinary talent for music from a young age. He was a member of the Florida All State Chorus at just 16 years old. Following his graduation from Blountstown High School, he proudly served as a navigator in the U.S. Air Force, where his love for aviation flourished.

In December 1955, he married Peggy Edmunds in Savannah, Georgia. Together, they raised their three children—Michelle, Janine, and Jonathan—while Rev. Spivey pursued his calling in ministry. The family became missionaries to Sweden after he was called to serve a small church in Faceville, Georgia. For 11 years, they dedicated their lives to spreading the Gospel through the Gospel Fellowship Association.

After returning to Canada, Rev. Spivey served as a missionary pilot, flying a twin-engine Cessna to the remote areas of Vancouver Island. In his later years, he supported a small church near Vancouver, where he was known for his unwavering dedication to his congregation.

Rev. Spivey’s wife, Peggy, passed away in 2019 after a prolonged illness, which he managed with unwavering care and love. He is predeceased by his wife and several family members, including his parents and siblings.

He is survived by his children—Michelle (Ken Haden) Spivey, Janine Rees, and Jonathan (Yoko) Spivey—as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who cherish his memory.
