The Maurepas Lady Wolves delivered a commanding performance to defeat third-seeded Hackberry 10-2 on the road in the Class C quarterfinals April 24, securing a coveted spot in the state semifinals.

Maurepas exploded out of the gate with a fast start, grabbing a 5-1 lead after just two innings and extending it to 6-1 in the third before Hackberry managed a pair of runs. The Lady Wolves never let up, adding a run in the fourth and finishing strong with three more in the seventh inning to seal the decisive victory.

Coach Gabrielle Varnado praised her squad’s effort and grit, reflecting on her own experience as a former state tournament athlete.
