UPDATE: A local man from Piru has been arrested for felony graffiti vandalism, following a swift response from Fillmore Patrol. 34-year-old Francisco Martinez was apprehended on the evening of October 24, 2023, after a vigilant community member alerted authorities to his activities.
Around 9:34 PM, deputies responded to reports of vandalism and quickly located Martinez’s vehicle leaving the scene. With fresh paint still visible on his person, the connection to the graffiti crimes was undeniable. A search of his vehicle revealed additional evidence linking him to the vandalism incidents, confirming the community’s concerns.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office stated,
“Graffiti vandalism is an eyesore that directly affects the quality of life in our communities,”
highlighting the negative impact on neighborhoods and the financial burden placed on property owners and taxpayers. Martinez faces serious charges under Penal Code § 594(b)(1) for felony graffiti vandalism and Penal Code § 594.2 for possession of graffiti tools.
Following his arrest, Martinez was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility, awaiting court proceedings.
