Betty/LaGayle Cancer Foundation Delivers Urgent Support to Families

URGENT UPDATE: The Betty/LaGayle Cancer Foundation is making headlines this Valentine’s weekend by providing critical support to families affected by cancer. The organization launched its “4 Families Service Project,” delivering much-needed financial assistance to families grappling with the devastating impacts of cancer.

Founded in 2015 by Uconda Autry-Winston in memory of her grandmother and mother, both cancer victims, the foundation aims to raise awareness and reduce cancer-related deaths among communities. This weekend’s initiative continues their mission to ease the burden on families facing the emotional and financial toll of cancer.

The foundation raised funds through its annual fall cancer walk in October, with contributions designated for families dealing with cancer. Funds, referred to as “chemo contributions,” are designed to cover various medical expenses and bills for those currently battling the disease. This February, donations specifically targeted families who recently lost loved ones to cancer, providing assistance with funeral and related costs.

Families receiving the donations expressed immense gratitude despite the emotional weight of their circumstances. “These funds can genuinely help alleviate the financial burden that comes with fighting cancer,” said Winston, underscoring the foundation’s dedication to supporting all individuals, regardless of race or nationality.

As the foundation prepares for its upcoming Derby Gala this spring, which aims to raise funds for scholarships, their commitment to diversity and inclusion remains a core tenet of their mission. The Betty/LaGayle Cancer Foundation is not just providing financial support; they are fostering a community of hope and resilience in the face of cancer.

Stay tuned for more updates as the foundation continues its vital work in the community, ensuring that no family faces this battle alone.
