Remembering James “Jim” Carufel: A Life Dedicated to Family and Service

James “Jim” Carufel, aged 79, passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy rooted in family and public service. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barb Carufel; his sister, Lorrie; sons Cory Carufel (Kristi) and Christopher Carufel (Haruko); and grandchildren Collette and Cayden. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Ben, along with his sisters, Jeanine and Leanne.

Jim graduated magna cum laude from St. Thomas University and went on to earn an M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota. Throughout his career, he held significant positions, including CFO roles in city management and serving as Senior Vice President of TPT Public Television. His professional achievements were substantial, but Jim often emphasized that his greatest accomplishment was his family.

Passion for Nature and Family

Jim’s love for nature was evident in his cherished time spent at a rustic cabin he built by hand in the north woods. This retreat provided him solace and a place to bond with his family, reflecting his belief that nothing was more important than the connections he fostered with loved ones. His family remembers him as a dedicated father and grandfather who made every moment count.

Visitation for Jim Carufel will take place on December 3, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, located at 2195 Woodlane Drive, Woodbury, MN 55125. Following the visitation, a private interment will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope.
