Reports indicate that on November 12, 2025, the family sought medical attention after experiencing severe illness. They returned to the hotel but were later hospitalized again, where tragically, their two children, Kadir Muhammet, age 6, and Masal, age 3, died the following day. Their mother, Cigdem, passed away on November 14, while the father, Servet Bocek, succumbed to the illness on November 17.
The preliminary autopsy report, cited by Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency, revealed the presence of phosphine gas, a harmful insecticide metabolite, on towels and other items from the hotel room. This finding ruled out initial suspicions of food poisoning from street vendors, which had been considered after their sightseeing tour.
