HospitalityMaine Celebrates 2025 Award Winners at Annual Summit

HospitalityMaine has unveiled its award winners for 2025 during its annual summit held from November 17 to 18 in Rockport, Maine. The recognition highlights exceptional contributions within the state’s lodging, restaurant, and hospitality sectors. Among the honorees, Chef Gil Pilaster of The Causeway Restaurant in Spruce Head received the prestigious title of Chef of the Year.

Kathleen Pierce, Director of Membership and Communications at HospitalityMaine, praised Pilaster for his extensive impact across the state. She noted that he now leads the kitchen at The Causeway, part of The Craignair Inn by the Sea, which has garnered significant attention since he took the helm.

Portland restaurateur Josh Miranda was also recognized, receiving the Restaurateur of the Year award. Miranda, who owns or co-owns several establishments in Portland, including Blyth & Burrows, Off Track Pizza, Papi, and Via Vecchia, was commended for his dedication and creativity. Pierce remarked on Miranda’s journey, stating, “Josh Miranda’s story is pure Maine grit and creativity. He built some of Portland’s most exciting establishments by rolling up his sleeves and leading with heart.”

Other Notable Awards Recognize Industry Excellence

The annual summit also honored several other industry leaders. Katie Keene was awarded Innkeeper of the Year for her work at The Dunes on the Waterfront in Ogunquit. Cheyenne Wright from York Harbor Inn earned the title of Employee of the Year, while Paper Trails of Kennebunk was recognized as Allied Member of the Year.

Pierce emphasized the significance of these awards, describing them as “a hospitality badge of honor for the recipients.” The event not only celebrates individual achievements but also fosters a sense of community within Maine’s hospitality industry.
