UPDATE: Despite a forecast predicting up to 2 inches of rain for Saturday, Light Up Main Street will kick off the holiday season in Old Town Newhall from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on December 2, 2023. Residents are encouraged to don their rain boots and bring umbrellas for this festive event.
The Santa Clarita City Council will gather at 24500 Main St. in front of the Santa Clarita Public Library to lead the countdown to illuminate the iconic Christmas tree at 5:30 PM. This event will transform Old Town Newhall into a dazzling holiday wonderland, complete with tens of thousands of lights, captivating attendees and spreading cheer, rain or shine.
While some activities will be canceled due to the weather, including the Polar Playground and s’mores fire pits, several attractions will still be available. Guests can explore the Makers Marketplace, enjoy main stage entertainment, and visit sponsor tents. Families can send letters to Santa, experience the Snow Zone, and indulge in offerings from the food and beverage lounge and beer garden.
The event promises to be a vibrant gathering despite weather challenges, featuring ice sculptures, nonprofit booths, and the beloved Santa Paws pet adoption opportunity.
