BREAKING: A 49-year-old man from Rocky Mount is facing serious charges after allegedly attempting to murder his girlfriend, who was shot multiple times at their home near Whitakers, North Carolina, on October 21, 2023. Authorities received multiple emergency calls, with the first indicating a dispute at the residence. As deputies raced to the scene, they received a second call confirming that a woman had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the victim suffering from at least two gunshot wounds and provided immediate assistance until Edgecombe County EMS transported her to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.
Detectives quickly launched an investigation into the alarming situation. They learned that the suspect, identified as Hayward Mann, had fled the scene after the shooting.
