The incident occurred just before closing time, around 5 p.m., when security footage revealed a masked man arriving at the facility. According to Patricia’s father, Frank Villa, “The suspect came, parked his car, and prepared himself, putting on a mask and arming himself before entering.” Tragically, when family members lost contact with Patricia, they rushed to the facility only to find her lying inside, having been shot five times.
Hundreds gathered for an emotional vigil on Saturday, expressing their grief and disbelief. “Patricia was a non-violent person… why did this have to happen to her?” Frank Villa lamented. Friends and coworkers described her as a dedicated employee and a light in their lives. “She was an awesome coworker and manager, bringing joy to everyone,” said Deann Pancheri.
Police utilized facial recognition technology to identify Nava, who was reportedly a customer and tenant at the storage facility. During a search of his residence, authorities discovered an alarming cache of weapons, including automatic firearms and handguns. Frank Villa stated, “They found many arms, automatic weapons, side arms, pistols,” raising serious concerns about Nava’s mental health state at the time of the incident.
