SCV Chamber Honors Veterans at Urgent 15th Annual Salute Event

UPDATE: The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce is honoring local veterans at its 15th annual Salute to Patriots event, held yesterday evening at the SCV Senior Center at Bella Vida. This urgent recognition highlights the contributions of veterans who continue to serve their community long after their military careers.

Local dignitaries gathered on November 5, 2025, to celebrate six outstanding individuals: Anthony Straight, Vernon Charles Miller, Juan Blanco, Robert Lasher, Sheriff’s Deputy Keith Wells, and Eric White. Notably, the seventh honoree, Camille Applin-Jones, was unable to attend and will be recognized at next year’s event.

The ceremony serves as a powerful reminder of the unwavering dedication and sacrifice made by these heroes. “You are not only defenders of our country, but also the pride of our community,” declared Di Thompson, 2025 chair of the board for the SCV Chamber. “You are heroes, both nationally and right here at home.”

Community members were encouraged to nominate veterans who have made significant impacts in the SCV business community, ensuring that unsung heroes receive the recognition they deserve. Ivan Volschenk, president and CEO of the SCV Chamber, emphasized the importance of acknowledging those who dedicate their time to bettering the community.

As each honoree was called to the podium, local leaders shared touching stories of their contributions. Emily White introduced her husband, Eric, saying, “I love that he has a servant’s heart. He just goes out of his way to serve anyone he meets.”

Meanwhile, Robert Lasher, who volunteers at the SCV Food Pantry, expressed gratitude for the support he has received since the loss of his wife during the pandemic. “It was nice that they were there to help me out and for me to help them out,” he said, illustrating the human connection that defines this event.

Santa Clarita Mayor Bill Miranda reinforced the city’s commitment to supporting veterans. “This community supports our veterans and always has, always will,” he stated. He urged attendees to recognize the challenges veterans face and emphasized the city’s responsibility to ensure they are treated with fairness and respect.

As the SCV Chamber continues to honor the sacrifices of these veterans, the ceremony serves as a call to action for the community to engage and uplift those who have served.

For future events, residents are encouraged to participate by nominating veterans who have positively influenced the Santa Clarita Valley. The Salute to Patriots event not only celebrates the past but also fosters a spirit of community and gratitude moving forward.

Stay tuned for more updates and ways to support our veterans in the coming weeks. The next opportunity to honor these heroes will be at next year’s event, where the legacy of service will continue to shine brightly in the Santa Clarita Valley.
