Times of San Diego Unveils Major Redesign of Community Papers

URGENT UPDATE: The Times of San Diego has just announced a significant redesign of its community newspapers, including Uptown News, which will hit stands on Friday, November 10, 2023. This redesign aims to enhance the reader experience while addressing current printing challenges.

Four out of seven community papers, including La Jolla Village News, Beach & Bay Press, Downtown News, and Uptown News, will showcase their fresh look this week. The Peninsula Beacon and Mission Times Courier will follow suit on November 14, with the La Mesa Courier completing the rollout on November 28.

Julie Main, Operations & Community Relations Manager for the Times of San Diego, emphasized the importance of this redesign. “Printing right now is a big challenge,” she stated, highlighting that the new layout will be more cost-effective, crucial for the non-profit’s sustainability. This redesign is anticipated to improve the quality of journalism by reallocating budget resources where they matter most.
