URGENT UPDATE: Ford has just announced a major safety recall affecting approximately 163,250 Bronco SUVs due to a critical defect that could significantly raise the risk of injuries in the event of a crash. The recall affects only Bronco models sold during 2021, 2022, and 2023, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The recall stems from issues with the height adjust pivot bolts in the front seats, which may be loose or dislodged. In the event of a collision, a front seat with a compromised bolt may fail to properly restrain the occupant, potentially leading to severe injuries. Ford is urging owners to be vigilant for signs of problems, such as squeaks, rattles, or looseness in the front seats.
Ford plans to notify affected owners by mail starting on December 1, 2025, instructing them to bring their vehicles to an authorized dealership. There, dealers will replace the faulty pivot links and bolts at no cost to the owners.
For immediate assistance, Bronco owners can contact Ford’s customer service at (866) 436-7332 or reach out to the NHTSA’s safety hotline at (888) 327-4236 to verify if their vehicle is impacted by this recall.
This recall adds to a troubling trend for Ford, which has faced multiple significant recalls in 2025. Earlier this year, the manufacturer recalled about 21,700 SUVs and sedans due to issues with failing lights and turn signals. In May, over 273,000 SUVs were recalled for brake line problems that posed a risk of fluid leaks. Additionally, in April, more than 33,000 SUVs were recalled due to fuel leak risks that could potentially cause engine fires.
Given the scale of these safety recalls, it is vital for Ford owners to stay informed and take prompt action if contacted. The safety of vehicle occupants is at stake, and immediate attention is necessary to mitigate risks associated with these defects. Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops.
