Saugus Prepares Urgent Veterans Day Events to Honor Heroes

UPDATE: As Veterans Day approaches, Saugus is gearing up for a series of heartfelt events to honor its local heroes. The town’s celebrations kick off with a special tribute and luncheon on November 10, starting at 11 a.m., at the Senior Center. This event promises a warm gathering with a pot pie luncheon provided by Harrows Chicken Pies, bringing the community together in appreciation of those who served the United States.

Leading the ceremony will be Capt. Stephen Castinetti, U.S. Navy (retired) and commander of the Saugus Veterans Council, serving as master of ceremonies. Attendees can look forward to patriotic performances by the Senior Center’s Sing-a-Long Group, under the direction of pianist Tony Sarno. The event will culminate with a dessert table sponsored by Andrew Firman from Benefits Advisors Group. Tickets are available for $6, but attendees must sign up in advance to secure their spots.

In addition, the Daughters of the American Revolution Parson Roby Chapter will contribute to the festivities by decorating the Town Hall lawn, creating a poignant Field of Flags in honor of veterans. This visual tribute serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by those who defended the nation.

On November 11, the celebrations will continue with a Rolling Rally organized by Guy Moley’s car show team. This rally will commence at the Senior Center at 10 a.m., featuring a procession of vehicles rolling past the Veterans Memorial and concluding at Town Hall. This event is expected to draw attention and community involvement, enhancing the spirit of the day.

The highlight of the Veterans Day observance will take place at 11 a.m. in Veterans Park, located at 1 Central St.. Community leaders, veterans, and local organizations will gather for the annual ceremony, which will include remarks, a wreath-laying ceremony, and a moment of silence to honor those who lost their lives in service to their country.
