Paul Straka, the Director of Business Development and Consulting at Service Access & Management, Inc. (SAM), was honored with the prestigious 2025 Robert K. Greenleaf Award for Servant Leadership. The award ceremony took place on October 29, 2024, at Seton Hall University, recognizing individuals and organizations that prioritize the well-being of others, fostering positive impacts on communities and society as a whole.
Straka has dedicated the last twelve years to SAM, where he has significantly contributed to the organization’s mission of serving over 40,000 individuals across all 67 counties in Pennsylvania and eight counties in New Jersey. His leadership emphasizes a commitment to servant leadership principles, which aim to elevate the needs of individuals and communities.
In addition to his role at SAM, Straka is actively involved in various non-profit organizations. He serves on the boards of local entities, including the Area Agency on Aging and Avenues, which supports individuals with intellectual disabilities. He also plays a crucial role in revitalizing the borough of Shenandoah through his work with Downtown Shenandoah, Inc. As the fiscal chair of the Luzerne/Schuylkill Workforce Development Board, he focuses on enhancing employment opportunities in the region.
Straka’s community involvement extends to his church, Divine Mercy Parish, where he serves as a Eucharistic Minister. He actively participates in fundraising efforts that benefit local causes, demonstrating his commitment to servant leadership both professionally and personally.
With a degree in Marketing and Management from the McCann School of Business, Straka began his career in banking, eventually becoming a trust officer for M&T Bank in Buffalo. His path led him to serve as the Deputy Administrator for Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, where he completed a three-year program through the County Commissioner’s Association/Academy of Excellence, earning a certificate in county government studies.
