UPDATE: The highly anticipated restaurant, The Borough, has officially opened its doors in Downingtown, attracting a flood of eager diners at its grand opening last week. Located at 149 E Lancaster Avenue, the venue promises to redefine the local dining scene with its unique blend of experiences.
Diners are already raving about the two distinct atmospheres: an energetic sports bar on the lower level and an upscale dining experience upstairs. With more than 400 seats available, The Borough aims to cater to a diverse clientele, from sports fans to food enthusiasts.
Keith Critchley and JT O’Brien, the restaurant’s partners, envision a space that combines the vibrancy of Miami with the charm of Nashville. The venue features eye-catching neon signs, selfie walls, and a photo booth, making it a perfect spot for social media moments.
The downstairs sports bar offers elevated pub fare and over 20 craft beer taps, ideal for watching games or enjoying a night out with friends. Meanwhile, the upstairs area transforms into a vibrant dining setting complete with a concert hall for live music.
“The restaurant is designed around the guest experience,” said Critchley. “We want to create a dynamic space where everyone feels welcome and excited to return.”
The Borough also boasts a stunning 30-40 seat outdoor patio that flows seamlessly from the indoor space, enhancing its inviting beach-like atmosphere. This addition fills a significant gap in Downingtown’s outdoor dining options, allowing guests to enjoy meals in a lively, open-air environment.
The venue is set to host an array of entertainment events, including live music, athlete meet-and-greets, and family-friendly activities. The upstairs area is available for private events, adding to the versatility of this new hotspot.
“The goal was to create more than just a restaurant,” O’Brien emphasized. “We want it to be a destination for everyone, whether for brunch, a girls’ night out, or just a place to catch a game.”
The Borough is open daily, offering lunch and dinner menus from 11 AM to 11 PM on weekdays and until 12 AM on weekends. Brunch will be introduced in just a few weeks, commencing on Saturdays and Sundays at 10 AM.
In addition to providing a fresh dining option, The Borough has hired more than 150 employees and is committed to supporting the local economy through partnerships with nearby farms and suppliers.
