BREAKING: Johnson City Public Works has just been awarded the 2025 Mark Miller Project of the Year for their transformative work on the West Walnut Street Corridor Redevelopment Plan. The $41 million project has completely revitalized a critical section of Johnson City, enhancing the area’s navigability and aesthetic appeal. The West Walnut Corridor now features pedestrian-friendly streets, upgraded water and sewer systems, and improved storm drains and utilities. It also includes vital traffic-calming elements designed to enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists. The addition of raised intersections and dedicated bike lanes underscores the city’s commitment to fostering a safe, connected community.
City Manager Cathy Ball expressed pride in the Public Works team’s efforts, stating,
