URGENT UPDATE: A routine traffic stop in Chino Hills has escalated into a significant drug bust, leading to the arrest of three local residents on narcotics charges. The incident unfolded on October 16, 2023, when deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department pulled over a vehicle for alleged traffic violations at the intersection of Rolling Ridge Lane and Glen Ridge.
During the stop, occupants Michael Aguilar and Tanya Camacho were discovered with methamphetamine in their possession. As investigations progressed, deputies responded to a nearby residence on Laguna Court, where they found Camacho’s children being cared for by their grandmother, Mary Rodriguez. Rodriguez was revealed to have outstanding warrants related to previous narcotics offenses.
While apprehending Aguilar, deputies found him in possession of methamphetamine and items indicating potential drug sales. A subsequent search warrant executed at Rodriguez’s residence led to the discovery of additional methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Rodriguez, already a convicted felon, was arrested under Proposition 36 for Health & Safety Code 11395(b)(1), which allows for enhanced sentencing for repeat offenders.
Aguilar and Camacho were transported to the West Valley Detention Center, with Aguilar facing charges under HS11378 and Camacho booked under HS11377. The welfare of Camacho’s children during this chaotic event highlights the troubling impact of substance misuse on families within the community.
