Country music legend Dolly Parton has provided an update on her health, revealing that she has been feeling “worn down” following the death of her husband, Carl Dean, on March 3, 2025. During a video shared on the opening day of Dollywood on March 13, she candidly discussed her struggles with grief and some underlying health issues.
Parton explained her absence from touring, stating, “I’ve had a few little health issues, and we’re taking good care of them.” She previously shared in September that she suffered from kidney stones, which required medical attention. Reflecting on her emotional state, she admitted, “I just kind of got worn down and worn out, grieving over Carl and a lot of other little things going on.”
In her characteristic humorous style, Parton reassured fans that despite her challenges, she is focused on rebuilding herself “spiritually, emotionally, and physically.” She emphasized that her health concerns have not significantly slowed her down, maintaining her commitment to her work and her fans.
In addition to addressing her health, Parton made light of her personal life, clarifying that she is not dating anyone since her husband’s passing. She humorously remarked that fans should not confuse Eugene Naughton, the president of Dollywood Company, as her “new husband.” Parton added, “I think Carl Dean’s waiting for me. If I should show up at the pearly gates with somebody else, he would not like that.”
Earlier in October, Parton had also reassured her fans about her health, stating, “I know lately, everyone thinks I’m sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you? I’m working hard here.” In a video recorded at the Grand Ole Opry, she acknowledged some health issues but asserted, “I want you to know I’m okay.”
Parton’s resilience is evident as she navigates her grief while also prioritizing her health. As she continues her work and remains a beloved figure in the music industry, fans are reminded of her strength and enduring spirit. In her own words, she concluded, “I ain’t dead yet!”
