De Mujer a Mujer, a program initiated by the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (GRCA), is now accepting nominations for its seventh annual De Mujer a Mujer Awards. These awards celebrate the rich diversity of women in Berks County and the Greater Reading area. The awards ceremony is scheduled for June 11, 2024, and aims to honor women making significant contributions to their communities.
Community members are invited to submit nominations across three categories. The Community Impact Award will recognize a woman who has demonstrated exceptional service and leadership, creating a lasting difference in her community. The Young Changemaker Award will honor a woman aged 18 to 25 who is already making meaningful contributions and shows great potential as a future leader. Lastly, the Small Business Owner Award will acknowledge an entrepreneur whose business success and community engagement contribute to a vibrant local economy.
The nomination process is straightforward and requires the use of an online form, which can be accessed at www.greaterreading.org/2026mujerawards. Nominations must be submitted by May 1, 2024. The form asks for details regarding the nominee, including their contact information, job title, and accomplishments over the past two years that have positively impacted the community. Nominators are also encouraged to provide supporting documents, such as articles or testimonials.
A committee of community leaders will review all nominations, with winners announced during the awards ceremony on June 11. Completed nomination forms should be emailed to Jackie Stiles at [email protected], and inquiries can be directed to her via email or at 610-898-7785.
Celebration Event to Empower Women
This year’s awards celebration will not only honor remarkable Latina women in Berks County but will also provide attendees with valuable insights into financial management. Abigail Torres and Michelle Leguisamon from Finanta will offer practical advice on enhancing financial literacy, making informed money choices, and achieving long-term stability.
The De Mujer a Mujer program serves as a catalyst for developing women leaders and fostering connections among women from diverse backgrounds. The initiative provides a platform for women to share knowledge, forge strategic alliances, and gain mentorship. Events are presented in Spanish, further promoting inclusivity and engagement within the community.
As the deadline for nominations approaches, the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance encourages all community members to recognize the outstanding women who are shaping Berks County through their leadership and service.
