Louisiana Man Arrested by FBI for Role in Hamas Terror Attacks

UPDATE: A Louisiana man has been arrested by the FBI for his alleged involvement in the October 7, 2023 terrorist attacks by Hamas in Israel. Mahmoud Amin Ya’qub al-Muhtadi, a Palestinian immigrant, is accused of crossing into Israel to assist in the brutal assault that caught the nation off-guard during a major holiday.
Officials revealed that al-Muhtadi engaged in significant communications regarding the attacks, including receiving a chilling message at 6:34 a.m. on the day of the assault, declaring, “I see war.” Just two minutes later, another text suggested chaos and destruction, stating, “Hell opened its gates.” Court documents indicate that al-Muhtadi’s phone was tracked inside Israel near Kibbutz Kfar Aza, a site of horrific violence during the assault.
The investigation uncovered al-Muhtadi’s ties to the National Resistance Brigades, a paramilitary group known for its affiliation with Hamas. Evidence collected from intercepted calls and social media posts reportedly shows him armed and in combat gear, preparing for the assault alongside other militants.
Al-Muhtadi entered the United States on September 12, 2024, having obtained a green card through the U.S. Embassy in Cairo. In his visa application, he failed to disclose his connections to Hamas or the National Resistance Brigades, instead claiming he would reside in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and work in “car repairs or food services.” This deception has raised serious national security concerns.
The FBI’s swift action reflects heightened vigilance following the recent surge in terrorist activities and threats. As investigations continue, authorities are urging the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity.
This arrest highlights the ongoing risks posed by individuals with extremist ties living in the U.S. and serves as a stark reminder of the importance of thorough vetting processes for immigration applications.
WHAT’S NEXT: As the investigation unfolds, more details are expected to emerge regarding al-Muhtadi’s affiliations and potential contacts within the United States. This case is likely to prompt discussions about national security and immigration policies in light of recent events.
