The FBI has released new information regarding the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie from her home in Pima County, Arizona. Authorities discovered 16 pairs of gloves in the vicinity of her residence, with one specific pair potentially linked to a suspect captured on surveillance video.
In a statement to Fox Digital, an FBI spokesperson detailed the findings, noting that the gloves were located approximately two miles from Guthrie’s home in a field beside the road. The gloves were collected by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) and sent overnight on February 12, 2023, arriving at a private laboratory in Florida by February 13.
Preliminary results from their analysis were received by law enforcement on February 14, with further quality control checks and official confirmation expected soon. The FBI intends to enter the unknown male DNA profile into CoDIS, the national DNA database utilized by the bureau, once confirmed. This process typically requires around 24 hours from the moment the FBI receives the DNA.
According to the FBI, the majority of the gloves collected were discarded searchers’ gloves, left behind by individuals involved in the search efforts. However, the pair of gloves with the DNA profile stands out as it appears to match those seen on the individual in the surveillance footage.
The investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s case remains a priority for the FBI, which has pledged continued assistance and cooperation with local authorities. The Sheriff involved in the investigation expressed concerns about the timeline regarding the search for Nancy, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
As the case evolves, the discovery of DNA-linked evidence may prove vital in identifying the individual responsible for her disappearance. Investigators remain committed to uncovering the truth and bringing closure to the Guthrie family.
