Linda D. Vasquez, Beloved Teacher and Community Leader, Passes Away

BREAKING: Linda D. Vasquez, a cherished educator and community leader, has passed away at the age of 78. She died peacefully on January 1, 2026, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, CT, leaving behind a legacy of love, learning, and cherished memories.

Linda was welcomed into the arms of her late husband, Leonard Vasquez, as she departed from this world. Born on July 3, 1947, in Waterbury, CT, she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine Cipriano. Her journey through life was marked by her passion for education and her deep connection to her family and friends.

An alumna of the University of New Haven, Linda earned her B.A. in English, which propelled her into a fulfilling career as an educator. She taught Language Arts and Science at St. Anne’s School in Waterbury and St. Francis Middle School in New Britain. Later, she transitioned to the corporate world, becoming an Operations Analyst at Traveler’s Insurance, where she remained until her retirement. During her tenure, Linda was deeply involved in the employee community and served as the 1993 President of Traveler’s Women’s Club.

Beyond her professional achievements, Linda was a passionate collector of stories and antiques. She often spent weekends hunting for treasures at local flea markets and even managed her own antique shop. Her love for the ocean was shared with Leonard, as they spent countless summers at the Jersey Shore and Cape Cod, eventually building their dream home in Wellfleet, MA. There, she hosted friends and family, creating unforgettable memories.

Linda’s impact extended far beyond her professional life. She formed deep bonds with many, including special friends Timothy Fritz, Alysa Krajcik, Jessica Spence, and Jennifer Hernandez. Those who knew her described her as a vibrant spirit who treated friends like family. Her absence will be felt profoundly throughout the community.

A memorial service to celebrate Linda’s life is scheduled for February 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM. The service will take place at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, located at 111 Chamberlain Hwy, Berlin, CT. Friends and family are encouraged to attend to honor her remarkable life.
