Evangeline Lilly Reveals Brain Damage Following Hawaii Accident

Evangeline Lilly, the actress known for her role in the *Ant-Man and the Wasp* franchise, has disclosed that she is experiencing brain damage resulting from an accident in Hawaii last year. In a candid update shared through her social media platforms, Lilly opened up about the challenges she faces following a traumatic brain injury (TBI) sustained during a fall.

On May 30, 2025, Lilly recounted the incident in a post on Substack, describing how she fainted while at the beach and struck her head on a boulder. The actress recently provided further details about her condition in a video posted on January 1, 2026, where she addressed her followers directly.

“I’m entering into this new year, the year of the horse, with some bad news about my concussion,” Lilly said. “A lot of you asked how I’m doing. A lot of you have inquired about the brain scans that you heard I got.”

The results from her brain scans indicated severe issues: “Almost every area in my brain is functioning at a decreased capacity,” she announced. “So, I do have brain damage from the TBI, and possibly other factors going on,” she added, highlighting the complexity of her health situation.

In her update, Lilly emphasized the need to work closely with her doctors to understand her condition better and to begin the arduous task of rehabilitation. “Now my job is to get to the bottom of that with the doctors and then embark on the hard work of fixing it,” she said, acknowledging the challenges ahead while maintaining a positive outlook.

Reflecting on the impact of her diagnosis, Lilly noted that her cognitive decline has led her to slow down and enjoy a more restful end to 2025. “I think this was the calmest, most restful Christmas holiday I have had, maybe since I had children, so 14 years ago. So that’s a good thing,” she shared, indicating a silver lining amidst her health struggles.

As she concluded her update, Lilly expressed gratitude for her ability to continue living and working. “Feeling extraordinarily grateful and blessed to be able to play one more day and one more year on this beautiful living planet. And that is my concussion update. Thank you all for caring,” she stated warmly.

This announcement follows Lilly’s previous declaration in 2024 that she was stepping away from Hollywood, marking *Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania* (2023) as her final performance before her hiatus. As she navigates this challenging period, her candidness may inspire others facing similar health challenges.
