Davidson College Honors Stephen Curry with Interchange Renaming

Travelers heading to Davidson College will now notice a new addition on their GPS: the Stephen Curry Interchange. This renaming honors the former student-athlete and current Golden State Warriors star for his significant impact on the college’s men’s basketball program. The official ceremony took place on the evening of October 24, 2023, as Curry attended a home game against Duquesne in Davidson, North Carolina.

The interchange, previously known as Exit 30, serves as a gateway for fans and visitors to the college. Curry, who wore the number 30 throughout his collegiate and professional career, was celebrated for his contributions during his time at Davidson. He played for the Wildcats from 2006 to 2009 and notably led the team to the Elite Eight in the 2008 NCAA tournament.

Curry’s achievements include setting the Division I single-season 3-point record with 162 3-pointers, a record that stood until Caitlin Clark of Iowa surpassed it with 164 in the 2023-24 season. His presence on the court and contributions to the game have made him a beloved figure in college basketball history.

During the celebration, Curry donned a Davidson sweatsuit paired with “Carmine” Air Jordan Retro 6 sneakers, reminiscent of the shoes he wore in a memorable photoshoot while at the school. The event was attended by several of his current NBA teammates, including Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler III, and Moses Moody, who came to support him on this special occasion.

In a move that further cements his connection to Davidson, Curry was recently named assistant general manager for the men’s basketball program, making him the first active NBA player to take on such an administrative role. His ongoing involvement with the college reflects his commitment to nurturing future talent and supporting the program that helped launch his career.

As the 2025-26 NBA season progresses, Curry continues to perform at an elite level, averaging 28.8 points and 4.3 assists per game. His remarkable journey from Davidson to NBA stardom serves as an inspiration to many aspiring athletes.

The renaming of the interchange not only honors Curry’s legacy but also serves as a reminder of the lasting impact he has had on Davidson College and the sport of basketball as a whole.
