URGENT UPDATE: Members of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department and Santa Clara County Fire Department made a heartwarming delivery of hundreds of toys to young patients at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center on December 17, 2025. The event took place in the children’s wing of the hospital located in San Jose, California.
The two departments spearheaded a community toy drive, collecting generous donations to brighten the holidays for children facing health challenges. This initiative resonates deeply, as many kids in the hospital will spend the festive season away from home. Officers and firefighters were seen delivering toys, spreading smiles, and offering support to patients like Kevin Fernandez and Draven Jenkins.
“This is about bringing joy to those who need it most,” said Art Tomasetti from the Fire Department. The toys were distributed not only at the hospital but also at various sites throughout the county, ensuring that the spirit of giving reaches as many children as possible.
In addition to toys, children had the chance to meet therapy dogs from the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit, providing comfort and companionship during their hospital stay. The presence of these friendly animals added an extra layer of joy to the day, creating memorable moments for the young patients.
As the holiday season approaches, initiatives like this highlight the importance of community support and compassion. The Sheriff and Fire Departments are committed to continuing these efforts, aiming to bring smiles to children’s faces throughout the county.
Officials are encouraging further community involvement, inviting residents to contribute to future toy drives and support local initiatives aimed at uplifting children in need. With the generous spirit of the community, there is hope for even more impactful events in the coming weeks.
