On December 18, 2023, Will Criner, the garden and facilities manager, explained that preparations for this dazzling display begin as early as September. The event transforms 7 acres of East Anchorage woods with twinkling lights and luminarias, inviting residents to revel in the magic of winter nights.
“It’s always a good time to be outside,” Criner stated. “Studies show that being outdoors is very healthy for you, especially at this time of year when there is a lot of darkness.” His vision emphasizes the importance of embracing nature, even when temperatures plummet below zero.
