Oneida County Health Department Moves to New Office Location

The Oneida County Health Department (OCHD) has officially relocated its offices from the Adirondack Bank Building at 185 Genesee St. to the Oneida County Office Building at 800 Park Ave., both located in Utica. This move aims to enhance service coordination and streamline operations while making it more convenient for residents and partners to access vital resources.

According to Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr., centralizing operations within the County Office Building will improve the department’s efficiency. “Centralizing these Health Department offices at the County Office Building will allow us to better coordinate services, strengthen internal operations and make it easier for residents and partners to access the resources they need,” he stated.

This relocation not only consolidates space but also brings financial benefits. Picente added, “This relocation also saves taxpayer dollars by consolidating space and reducing expenses.” Despite the change in location, he assured the public that OCHD remains committed to providing efficient, reliable, and high-quality public health services.

Details of the Relocation and Impact on Services

The OCHD’s new office will house several key departments, including Administration, Special Children Services, Health Promotion, and Environmental Health. Importantly, the phone numbers for these departments will remain unchanged, ensuring continuity for those seeking assistance.

While Administration, Special Children Services, and Health Promotion will see no alteration in service delivery, the Environmental Health Department’s in-person services will experience some modifications due to the move. Permitted facility operators—such as restaurants, hotels, motels, pools, campgrounds, and mobile home parks—are now required to mail or deliver permit applications and payments to the Oneida County Office Building.

Moreover, those needing to deliver rabies and animal specimens must do so at the new location, but arrangements should be made in advance by calling (315) 798-5064. This number is also the point of contact for discussions related to testing.

Despite the office relocation, OCHD clinic services will remain unchanged. Clinic hours will continue at 406 Elizabeth St. in Utica, operating Monday through Friday. Additionally, clinic hours in Rome will be available on specific dates and times. For the most current information regarding clinic services, residents can visit oneidacountyny.gov/vaccines.

Any inquiries regarding the relocation or services can be directed to (315) 798-5064 or via email at [email protected]. More detailed information about the Oneida County Health Department can also be accessed at oneidacountyny.gov/health.

This strategic move reflects Oneida County’s ongoing commitment to improving public health services and operational efficiency for the community.
