Paddy Pimblett “Knocked Out” in Boxing Exhibition in Liverpool

UFC lightweight star Paddy Pimblett participated in a unique boxing exhibition in his home town of Liverpool, where he was humorously “knocked out” by amateur boxer George Goetzee. This event, organized by the No Limits boxing club, allowed Goetzee, who has Down syndrome, to fulfill a dream of stepping into the ring with a notable fighter.

Pimblett, who holds a record of 23-3-0, is currently in training for his upcoming interim lightweight title match against Justin Gaethje scheduled for January 24, 2024, in Las Vegas. Despite his busy schedule, he took time to engage with the community and support local initiatives.

During the exhibition, Goetzee, affectionately dubbed “The Real GGG” in homage to boxing champion Gennady Golovkin, showcased his skills. After throwing a series of combinations, Goetzee landed a right hand that sent Pimblett to the canvas. The referee quickly stopped the bout, declaring Goetzee the winner by knockout.

“The referee calls a halt to this contest with the red corner [Pimblett] in no condition to continue, and therefore your winner by KO, and still undefeated: The Real GGG!” the ring announcer declared, generating applause from the audience.

Following the light-hearted match, Pimblett celebrated Goetzee’s achievement by lifting him onto his shoulders as a gesture of recognition. Pimblett has a reputation for being actively involved in charitable endeavors within Liverpool, often addressing social issues facing the community.

As the fighter prepares for his significant clash with Gaethje, this exhibition serves as a reminder of the importance of community engagement and the joy that sports can bring, transcending the competitive nature of professional fighting.
