Merry Christmas Fund Surpasses 5% of $50,000 Goal in Five Days

The Merry Christmas Fund reached a significant milestone, achieving over 5% of its fundraising goal of $50,000 within just five days. As of today, the fund has raised a total of $2,985.09, with a single donation of $830.09 received today. This year marks the first time the fund has accepted online donations, expanding its reach beyond local contributors.

On December 6, 2025, the fund welcomed its first out-of-state donations, with two contributions from South Carolina arriving at the Salvation Army Chester Corps. The initiative aims to support local families in need during the holiday season, and the generosity of donors is crucial to its success.

Today’s contributions reflect a heartfelt commitment from individuals honoring their loved ones. Notable donations include:

John E. O’Brien of Aston, who contributed $150 in memory of his parents, June and Henry O’Brien.
Patricia Woznicki of Media, who donated $100 in memory of Sande and Pat Walton.
Lawrence Worrilow of Myrtle Beach, S.C., who gave $100 in memory of Thomas H. and Amelia Worrilow Sr.
Krystina I. Masterson of Longs, S.C., who donated $250 in memory of Shirley Ostrander.
Bob Hughes of Swarthmore, who contributed $100 with a simple “Merry Christmas” message.
– An anonymous donor from Aston gave $30.09 with a similar holiday greeting.
Carol Ann Kruklis of Springfield made a donation of $100 in memory of Ed and Edna Roberts.

The Daily Times will continue to provide updates on the total amount raised and will list the names of contributors to the Merry Christmas Fund. Donors wishing to be acknowledged are encouraged to include a brief holiday message with their gifts.
