URGENT UPDATE: A 34-year-old San Jose woman has been arrested for murder following a deadly hit-and-run incident that occurred on Sunday night. The collision, described as an intentional act, took place just before 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Winchester Boulevard and Tisch Way, according to police reports.
San Jose police responded to the scene to find a woman lying in the roadway. Despite immediate medical attention, she was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly after arrival. The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of her next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
Police spokesperson Sgt. Jorge Garibay stated that preliminary investigations indicate the collision was deliberate, though the motive behind the act remains unclear. The suspect, identified as Yanette Beas Solorio, was apprehended approximately two miles from the scene in Santa Clara. She is currently held at the Santa Clara County Jail without bail.
This tragic event marks the 24th homicide in San Jose this year, a concerning rise from 29 homicides reported by this time last year.
