SCV Water Launches Urgent New Gardening Club for Community in 2026

BREAKING: The Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency has just announced the launch of the SCV Water Gardening Club, set to debut with an exciting first workshop on January 31, 2026, from 9-11 a.m. at 23780 Pine Street, Newhall. This new community initiative is designed to empower residents to cultivate beautiful, sustainable, and water-efficient landscapes.

The SCV Water Gardening Club features a year-long series of expert-led workshops aimed at enhancing local gardening skills while fostering community connections. The inaugural workshop, titled “Intro to Container Gardening: Veggies, Herbs & Pollinator Plants,” will equip participants with practical tips for maximizing small spaces to grow food and attract pollinators. This event is open to gardeners of all experience levels and promises to be a rich learning experience.

The Gardening Club is about more than plants — it’s about building community,” said Matt Dickens, sustainability manager at SCV Water. He emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for residents to learn valuable skills while connecting with local experts.

The Gardening Club expands upon SCV Water’s successful landscape and conservation workshops, presenting them in a cohesive format that encourages ongoing participation. Future workshops will cover a wide range of topics, including native plants, landscape design, composting, and creating wildfire-resilient gardens.

The 2026 workshop lineup also includes exciting events such as:
– “Native Plant Arranging: Beauty Meets Sustainability”
– “Landscape Design Workshop Series (Two Parts)”
– “Composting 101”
– “Top 100 Plants for the Santa Clarita Valley”
– “Kids’ Bug Snug Class”
– “Firewise Landscapes: Designing for Safety and Sustainability”
– “Lawn Removal and Native Plant Workshops (English and Spanish)”
– “Edible Planting and Seasonal Wreath Making”

This new club gives residents a fun, welcoming way to stay engaged all year long,” noted Laura Gallegos, Senior Communications Specialist. “Whether someone is new to gardening or looking to deepen their knowledge, there’s something for everyone.”
