Louis Edward Goldberg, a respected attorney and cherished family member, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 after a prolonged battle with cancer. His death marks the end of a life dedicated to family, education, and community service.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut, to David and Paula Goldberg, Louis spent his formative years in Arizona, where he was raised alongside his sister, Evelyn. After marrying his lifelong partner, Sheila Burd Goldberg, the couple moved to California, where they nurtured a loving home for their children.
Goldberg’s academic journey began at Arizona State University, followed by graduation from the University of Arizona. He later earned a law degree from South Bay University School of Law. Initially working as an engineer, he transitioned to a successful legal career that lasted until his retirement at the age of 73.
Throughout his life, Louis was passionate about sports, particularly enjoying playing and watching college basketball. He practiced karate and loved exploring new restaurants. However, his true joy came from spending time with his family. He played a significant role in encouraging his children and grandchildren to pursue their careers and instilled in them a strong sense of values.
Louis is survived by his three children: Robert Goldberg and his wife Elaine, Michelle Goldberg Smith and her husband Kevin, and Sheri Goldberg Frazin and her husband Alvin. The family also includes his beloved grandchildren: Jennifer Sher and her husband Rabbi Daniel, Steven Smith and his wife Kelby, Amanda Goldberg and her fiancé Zach, Andrew Goldberg and his wife Emily, Rachel Frazin Sofaer, and Sarah Bowens and her husband Brandon. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Levi, Sami, Lily, Rory, and Ari.
A memorial service was held on November 16, 2025, at Hillside Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California, honoring the life and contributions of a man who touched many lives. Louis Goldberg’s commitment to his family and community will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
