The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that three terrorists were killed near Jenin in the West Bank during a counterterrorism operation on March 5, 2024. The military, in collaboration with the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), stated that the individuals were part of a cell reportedly planning attacks and involved in organizing terror activities within the Jenin refugee camp.
According to the IDF, the operation began when officers from the Counterterrorism Unit received intelligence about the cell’s movements. They tracked the terrorists to a cave where they were seen emerging. Following their identification, the unit opened fire, resulting in the deaths of the three suspects. Shortly after, an airstrike conducted by the Israel Air Force targeted the cave to ensure complete neutralization of the threat.
Additional Operations in Hebron
Simultaneously, Israeli police forces, in partnership with paratroopers from Battalion 202, conducted operations in the Hebron area. This effort focused on locating individuals suspected of inciting terrorism. According to police reports, two key suspects were arrested for promoting violence against Israeli citizens on social media platforms.
The authorities seized their mobile phones during the arrests, which will aid in the ongoing investigations. The police emphasized the importance of addressing incitement and preventing further terrorist activities in the region. Additionally, the IDF reported the seizure of materials used for manufacturing weapons during the operations.
These coordinated efforts underscore Israel’s ongoing commitment to countering terrorism and maintaining security in the region. The operations reflect a broader strategy to disrupt terrorist networks and respond proactively to threats identified through intelligence gathering.
