Fire brigades were forced to park their tankers about 400 meters away, which hindered their response time. Local village council member Roshan Redkar revealed that authorities had previously issued a demolition notice for the club due to a lack of construction permits. However, a decision by higher officials had reversed this order.
In response to the tragedy, the state government has initiated an inquiry to ascertain the precise cause of the fire and to evaluate compliance with fire safety regulations and building codes. Chief Minister Sawant emphasized the urgency of this investigation, stating, “We must ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences via social media, describing the incident as “deeply saddening.” He confirmed that the state government is offering all possible assistance to those affected and their families.
