Urgent Update: DNA Links Remains to Missing Woman Kada Scott

BREAKING: DNA testing confirms that remains found in Germantown, Philadelphia are connected to missing woman Kada Scott. The grim discovery was made on Saturday behind a vacant school near Awbury Arboretum, following a targeted search that began after a critical anonymous tip.
Authorities report that the search intensified around 10 a.m. today after police received a “very specific” lead. The remains, believed to be those of a female, were located in a shallow grave within a heavily wooded area. First Deputy Commissioner John Stanford stated that investigators are now working closely with the medical examiner’s office for identification.
“We have been in communication with her family as to this process and in the fact that we have recovered a human being,” said Stanford.
This urgent development follows the arrest of Keon King, a 21-year-old from Southwest Philadelphia, who has been charged with kidnapping Scott. King was reportedly the last person to have contact with her before she vanished on the night of October 4, after leaving her job at an assisted living facility.
Police have uncovered significant evidence, including Scott’s debit card and a phone case, during searches in the area. Since King’s arrest, authorities have received tips flooding in regarding Scott’s case, indicating a community rallying for answers.
Investigators are delving into the relationship between King and Scott, as she had mentioned experiencing harassment prior to her disappearance. While it remains unclear if King was the alleged harasser, the connection is being scrutinized closely.
King is currently held on $2.5 million bail. He also faces pending charges in a similar case from earlier this year, where he was accused of kidnapping and assaulting another woman, but those charges were dropped when the victim did not appear in court.
“We could have done better in that. A really sophisticated approach to the case would have been to try to put it all in with video evidence,” stated D.A. Larry Krasner during a news conference.
The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office is now re-filing charges against King in the earlier case, which involved a woman who was reportedly kidnapped, assaulted, and eventually released. Krasner addressed the complexities surrounding bail decisions, defending his office’s strategic choices in the past.
The investigation remains active, and the public is urged to assist by providing any information related to Scott’s disappearance. Tips can be submitted by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477).
This developing story highlights the urgent need for justice in the case of Kada Scott and underscores the serious implications surrounding issues of harassment and violence against women. As the investigation unfolds, the community remains hopeful for closure and accountability.
Stay tuned for updates as more information becomes available in this deeply concerning case.
