Brown was crossing the intersection at the 3300 block of Market Street when a driver ran a red light at high speed, hitting her and fleeing the scene. She was accompanied by coworkers at the time of the tragic incident. “I was in shock,” said her colleague, Felicia Boyd. “I just couldn’t believe someone could be so reckless.”
This shocking event has left family and friends grappling with the loss of a woman described as “one of the kindest people” by her niece, Blen Ashenafi. Born in Ethiopia, Meaza made South Philadelphia her home and was known for her radiant smile that “brightened up the whole place,” according to Boyd.
