Urgent Open House for Highway 210 Project Scheduled for Oct. 29

UPDATE: The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has just announced an urgent open house event on October 29, 2023, to discuss the upcoming construction project on Highway 210 between Crosby and Deerwood. Residents are invited to attend this crucial meeting from 4-6 p.m. at Deerwood City Hall, located at 23770 Forest Road.

This open house will provide an opportunity for community members to engage directly with the MnDOT project team, view project layouts, and ask questions. Notably, there will be no formal presentation, allowing attendees to drop by at their convenience to gather information and express their concerns.

The project is set to bring significant improvements to Highway 210, including resurfacing sections of the highway and upgrading drainage systems. Specifically, the construction will cover the stretch from east of Third Avenue East in Crosby to East Broadway in Deerwood, as well as Ruggles Avenue to east of Highway 6 in Deerwood. These enhancements are crucial for ensuring safer travel conditions and better infrastructure.

Key improvements include:
– Resurfacing Highway 210
– Repairing or replacing drainage pipes and ditches
– Installing pavement markings and rumble strips
– Upgrading guardrails and pedestrian facilities

The design phase of the project is ongoing and will extend through 2027, with final designs and traffic plans expected to be completed by 2028. Construction is scheduled to commence in 2029, potentially requiring detours during the work period.

Residents are encouraged to participate actively in this process. For those requiring accommodations, including ASL or foreign language interpretation, MnDOT urges individuals to contact them in advance.
