URGENT UPDATE: Upper Darby firefighters are making a significant impact this Thanksgiving by delivering over 40 food boxes to families in need. The event took place on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Cardington fire station, where firefighters quickly assembled and distributed the boxes.
Organized by retired Chief Ed Cubler, a lifelong Upper Darby resident, this initiative has provided essential meals for decades. “We want to ensure that every family can enjoy a proper Thanksgiving,” Cubler stated, highlighting the importance of community support.
Members of the Upper Darby Fire Department, part of IAFF Local 2493, teamed up with their families to gather and prepare the food boxes. Josh Laubach, the Shop Steward for the union, confirmed that the firefighters and the new Fire Chief Nick Martin were actively involved in the effort, working together to deliver these vital meals.
Each box contains a full Thanksgiving meal along with additional items to help families celebrate the holiday. The firefighters’ commitment to serving their community is evident as they mobilized quickly to ensure timely delivery ahead of the holiday.
This effort not only provides food but also fosters a sense of community and support among residents of Upper Darby. As families gather to give thanks, the contributions of local firefighters remind us of the importance of helping one another during the holidays.
As the holiday season approaches, the Upper Darby Fire Department’s initiative is a testament to community spirit and generosity. Residents are encouraged to participate in similar initiatives or support local charities to help those in need.
