Stewartville Community Raises Over $25,000 for Shooting Victims

UPDATE: The Stewartville community has rallied to raise over $25,000 for families impacted by a tragic shooting that occurred on December 12, 2025. A GoFundMe campaign initiated by the Stewartville Wrestling Booster Club surpassed its initial goal of $22,000 within just days of the incident.

The shooting unfolded in the parking lot of Stewartville High School early Friday morning, around 5 a.m., as the school’s wrestling team was preparing to depart for a tournament in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Authorities confirm that a student was critically injured, while an adult male was found deceased at the scene from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The identities and ages of those involved have yet to be released.

In a heartfelt message, the Stewartville Wrestling Booster Club expressed their sorrow:

“Our hearts are with the victims, their families, friends, coaches, and everyone affected. We ask everyone in our community to look out for one another, offer support where possible, and stand together during this incredibly difficult time.”

This message was shared just hours after the shooting, highlighting the community’s commitment to support those in need. The Booster Club is directing all funds raised to assist the two affected families.

In addition to the GoFundMe, donations can also be made in person at any Eagle Rock Bank branch by referencing the “Stewartville Wrestling Benefit Account.” Local businesses are stepping up as well, with Full Court Custom Apparel Inc. pledging to donate 100% of proceeds from shirt sales to the victims’ families.

The wrestling community has shown remarkable solidarity, with neighboring programs such as Dover-Eyota, Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Century, and Mayo contributing hundreds of dollars to the cause. Notably, the Clash National Wrestling Duals also made a generous donation of $1,000.

As the community continues to grieve, Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson stated during a press conference on Friday, “We don’t know anything that led up to this at all, at this point.” Residents are awaiting further updates, with a press conference scheduled for Monday to provide more details.

The urgent need for support and the overwhelming community response highlight the human impact of this tragedy. Those looking to contribute or learn more about donation options are encouraged to contact the Stewartville Wrestling Booster Club at [email protected].
