UPDATE: The star-studded lineup for the 2023 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has just been announced, bringing an exciting mix of musical talent and beloved characters to the streets of New York City. The parade will kick off at 8:30 a.m. on November 27, making it a must-watch event for millions across the nation.
This year, the parade will feature a diverse array of artists, including Ciara, Foreigner, Lil Jon, Kool & the Gang, Busta Rhymes, and Mickey Guyton. Fans can also look forward to performances by Teyana Taylor and Audrey Nuna, among others. Notably, the parade will celebrate the cultural phenomenon of K-pop with appearances from the fictional girl group HUNTR/X, featured in the hit Netflix movie “KPop Demon Hunters.”
The parade promises an exhilarating experience with 32 balloons, three balloonicles, 27 floats, 33 clown groups, and 11 marching bands, all culminating in the arrival of Santa Claus. This year, Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker will return as hosts, broadcasting live on NBC and Peacock.
Among the eye-catching attractions, four new character balloons will debut, including Buzz Lightyear, Pac-Man, Mario from Super Mario Brothers, and a whimsical 32-foot-tall onion carriage from “Shrek.” The parade will also honor its legacy by featuring balloons from past parades, such as Rainbow Trout and Freida the Dachshund.
This year’s event is expected to draw significant crowds, as last year’s parade attracted over 31 million viewers, marking a record high. Audiences lined up along the parade route, eager to cheer on their favorite floats and performers.
In addition to musical performances, attendees can enjoy Broadway highlights with cast members from “Buena Vista Social Club,” “Just in Time,” and “Ragtime”, along with special appearances by the Radio City Rockettes and notable athletes like Ilia Malinin, a three-time U.S. national champion figure skater.
As the parade approaches its 100th anniversary next year, this year’s festivities promise a blend of nostalgia and fresh entertainment, captivating audiences both in person and at home. More star appearances are expected to be revealed as the date draws closer, generating even more excitement for this beloved holiday tradition.
