Soquel High Dominates Watsonville 77-42 in Urgent Basketball Clash

UPDATE: Soquel High’s boys basketball team achieved a stunning victory over Watsonville, decisively winning 77-42 in a nonleague game held on January 1, 2023. This commanding performance is a critical turning point for the Knights, who showed marked improvement on the court.

The Knights surged ahead with a blistering start, leading 29-11 after the first quarter and 48-16 at halftime. Senior center Connor Corlett was a standout player, contributing 16 points and 12 rebounds. Coach Chris Christensen praised his team’s unselfish play, stating, “We moved the ball better and created open shots for each other.”

In addition to Corlett, senior Miles Johnson added 14 points for the Knights, who improved their season record to 6-3. Juniors Ryan Grilli and Mason Esters each contributed 9 points, with Grilli hitting three of Soquel’s eleven three-pointers. This offensive explosion is a significant boost after recent struggles.

For Watsonville, senior forward/center Anthony Razo led the scoring with 9 points, while senior guard Max Aceves contributed 8 points. The Wildcats now stand at 4-2 and are set to face Saint Francis of Mountain View on January 3, 2023.
