URGENT UPDATE: Skoda has just revealed an eye-catching imaginary electric sedan that will ignite nostalgia among car enthusiasts. This innovative concept pays homage to the brand’s classic 100/110, which dominated the roads from 1969 to 1977, and showcases Skoda’s commitment to modern design while reimagining its history.
As of October 2023, Skoda holds a 6.3 percent share of the European automotive market, making it the third best-selling automaker on the continent. The company is now in its strongest position yet, celebrating over a century of automotive excellence.
The latest creation is part of Skoda’s “Icons Get a Makeover” series, aimed at transforming iconic models into futuristic electric vehicles (EVs). Designed by Martin Paclt, a specialist in headlight design, this imaginary sedan adopts the brand’s Modern Solid design language while steering clear of excessive retro elements.
This conceptual vehicle features a striking absence of a rear window, replaced by a sleek body-colored panel that incorporates a central fin, which serves as both an air intake and a housing for the third brake light. While the design is radical, it still nods to its predecessor with discreet rear-fender vents, ensuring optimal cooling for EV technology.
At 163.6 inches (or 4155 millimeters) in length, the original Skoda 100 was compact, but its hypothetical successor is built on the platform of the current-generation Superb, resulting in a larger and more spacious design. This modern take on the classic car includes a dual-trunk layout, creatively accommodating the drivetrain while maximizing cargo space.
“These reinterpretations of historic vehicles are created purely for fun, after office hours,” Paclt stated, emphasizing the playful nature of this project.
Despite the excitement surrounding this digital concept, it is important to note that these designs are not indicative of future production models. The classic 100 would not fit into Skoda’s current lineup, especially as the Octavia and Superb are transitioning to electric formats. The next-gen Octavia has already been teased with the Vision O, a groundbreaking EV wagon concept.
Skoda’s imaginative approach to reviving historic nameplates is a refreshing exercise that could inspire other legacy automakers, including parent company Volkswagen. As the company continues to generate buzz with these creative renderings, car enthusiasts eagerly await what Skoda will dream up next.
Stay tuned for more updates on Skoda’s innovative designs and the future of electric vehicles!
