UPDATE: Thrilled skiers and snowboarders are flocking to Wachusett Mountain in Princeton and Nashoba Valley Ski Area in Westford this holiday season as ideal conditions spark a surge in visitors. With recent snowfall and favorable temperatures, ski resorts are abuzz with excitement and activity.
Conditions are reportedly perfect for skiing, with 90% of the terrain open at Wachusett Mountain. Public Relations Manager Chris Stimpson confirmed, “We’ve had amazing low temperatures, so we’re able to make snow.” The new six-seat chairlift, just unveiled this season, has also received rave reviews from visitors eager to hit the slopes.
Families are taking advantage of the school vacation week, making it a prime opportunity for winter fun. Local skiers, like the Williams family from Bolton, expressed their joy at the conditions. “We had a lot of snow so snow conditions were good,” said Mike Williams, as his children enjoyed the slopes.
At Nashoba Valley, excitement is also palpable. “We’re just trying to get in some skiing on a nice day during school vacation,” said Antigone Grasso, who took her children out for a fun day. Reports from families indicate a blend of thrilling experiences, with children like Patrick Grasso clocking speeds of up to 30 mph as they navigate the slopes.
The festive atmosphere is enhanced by free s’mores offered on weekends and a spectacular fireworks display planned for New Year’s Eve at 9:40 p.m.. “People are really excited,” Stimpson added, emphasizing the community spirit and joy this time of year brings.
Visitors from afar are also making the trek to these ski areas. Talha Qamr, who has visited Wachusett since his sixth-grade days, remarked, “You don’t have to travel a whole lot to have a lot of fun.” His enthusiasm reflects the sentiment shared by many who are finding joy in the local slopes.
At Nashoba Valley, owner Al Fletcher noted the positive response from guests. “A lot of people are enjoying it, a lot of smiles,” he said, highlighting the engaging atmosphere that’s perfect for both skiing and snow tubing.
With the weather forecast predicting continued favorable conditions, both resorts are likely to see sustained traffic throughout the season. Parents are thrilled to get their kids active outdoors, away from screens, while skiers are enjoying the thrill of the slopes without long lift lines.
As snow continues to blanket the mountains, visitors are encouraged to join in on the fun at these popular ski destinations, making lasting memories this winter season.
