Serial Slasher Strikes Again: Three Random Attacks in 24 Hours

UPDATE: A serial slasher is on the loose after attacking three unsuspecting victims in Brooklyn within a single day. Authorities are urgently seeking public assistance to locate the suspect, who has now committed three unprovoked blade assaults over just 24 hours.

The first incident unfolded on the Q train at approximately 6:30 a.m. on October 21, 2023, when the suspect slashed a 37-year-old man on the left side of his face while traveling towards Manhattan. After the attack, the victim exited at the Church Avenue station and reported the incident to police, as the assailant remained on board until the next stop.

Just hours later, the suspect struck again. At around 9:40 p.m. on the same day, he attacked a 53-year-old man near Foster and New York Avenues, roughly a mile and a half from the initial assault. Then, at 6:55 a.m. the following day, he slashed a 56-year-old man a block away from the previous assault, at Newkirk Avenue and New York Avenues. All three victims were transported to Kings County Hospital and are currently listed in stable condition.

The NYPD is intensifying their search efforts across Flatbush and has released a surveillance image of the suspect. Authorities describe him as wearing a navy blue jacket, black shorts, and white sneakers.

These alarming attacks come just days after another subway stabbing incident in Manhattan, where on October 16, a 30-year-old man allegedly stabbed a 51-year-old during a confrontation on a rush-hour D train. The attacker was apprehended and remains in custody.

This series of stabbings has heightened concerns about safety in New York City’s public transit system. Authorities urge anyone with information about the slasher to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All tips will be kept confidential.

As police continue their investigation, community members are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The NYPD is actively working to ensure the safety of subway riders as they confront this urgent threat.
