BREAKING: Poison’s highly anticipated anniversary tour has been abruptly canceled, according to drummer Rikki Rockett, who revealed that frontman Bret Michaels made exorbitant contract demands that derailed the plans. Just confirmed, the proposed tour, set to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their debut album, Look What the Cat Dragged In, will not take place.
Rockett shared the disappointing news with Page Six, stating, “We had a great offer, I thought. But we left the table. It didn’t work.” The issue arose over Michaels’ demand for a staggering 600% more money than his fellow band members, which Rockett claimed would make it impossible to proceed. “It’s like $6 to every one of our dollars. You just can’t work that way,” he explained.
Despite the setback, Rockett emphasized that there is no animosity among the band members. “Every member of this band has given me so much privilege in life,” he said, likening the situation to “hating your parents.” He also dismissed speculation about touring with another vocalist, stating, “It’s not out of the question. But doing that is like surgery. It’s the last resort.”
While the tour was never officially announced, Michaels had previously indicated it would be a fantastic idea. In September 2024, he noted, “It would make perfect sense to have the possibility of a reunion in 2026,” suggesting a series of 40 limited dates to celebrate their legacy.
Although fans will miss out on the anniversary tour this year, Michaels is set for solo concert dates in 2026. Meanwhile, Rockett plans to tour with his side project, Rockett Mafia. He humorously suggested a potential reunion for a 41st anniversary tour in 2027, calling it “a perfect Poison folly.”
At this time, Bret Michaels has not publicly commented on the situation. The cancellation of the anniversary tour leaves fans disappointed but hopeful for future developments. Stay tuned for updates as this story evolves.
