Pastor Discusses Role of Angels at Carlyle Presbyterian Church

On February 15, 2024, Pastor Steve Traw delivered a thought-provoking sermon titled “God’s Messengers” at Carlyle Presbyterian Church. Drawing from the biblical passage Hebrews 1:1-7, Traw explored the significance and functions of angels within the Christian faith.

During his message, Traw emphasized that angels serve as messengers from God rather than a means to access Him. He highlighted that the Bible mentions angels 275 times, citing key examples such as the announcement of Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem and the angelic encounter with Mary Magdalene at the tomb following Jesus’ crucifixion. “Angels are messengers for God, not a way to God,” he stated, encouraging congregants to speak directly to God as the foundation of their faith.

In addition to the sermon, congregants were treated to a musical performance by Dale Thiel, who sang “I Give My Life To You” while accompanying himself on the guitar. This moment added a personal touch to the service, enhancing the overall worship experience.

Looking ahead, the church has scheduled its annual corporation meeting for February 22, 2024, at 10:45 a.m. in the sanctuary. Furthermore, the Church Session will convene on March 3, 2024, at 5:45 p.m. in Fellowship Hall, inviting members to engage in discussions about church matters.

Pastor Traw’s message and the church’s upcoming events reflect a community that is both spiritually engaged and committed to fostering connections among its members.
