New York Road Runners Host Free Youth Event Ahead of Marathon

URGENT UPDATE: The New York Road Runners just launched the excitement leading up to the TCS New York City Marathon with a vibrant youth event in Central Park! This morning, over 2,500 young runners aged 2 to 18 participated in a thrilling series of races, dashes, and family activities.

The event kicked off at West Drive, south of West 67th Street, near the iconic marathon finish line, creating an electric atmosphere in Manhattan. Participants enjoyed various distances and games, fostering a spirit of community and health. Many of these young athletes are part of the Rising New York Road Runners program, which has impacted 200,000 students nationwide, including 100,000 right here in New York City.

This free event is just the beginning of a week filled with marathon festivities, culminating on November 2, 2025. That day, more than 50,000 runners from across the globe will take to the streets, showcasing a diverse range of experience levels, ages, genders, abilities, and backgrounds.

The New York Road Runners, a dedicated nonprofit organization, hosts over 20 free youth events annually, emphasizing their commitment to promoting fitness and community engagement among youth.
