BREAKING: A Massachusetts jail librarian has been arrested for allegedly smuggling $65,000 worth of synthetic marijuana, also known as K-2 or “spice,” into Dartmouth Jail. Ginger Hook, 46, was indicted alongside inmate Joseph Housley, 25, and three others, in a shocking drug distribution operation targeting the Bristol County Jail.
This urgent update comes as authorities reveal that the illicit scheme had been under investigation since March 2023. On June 9, investigators observed Hook attempting to deliver 13 pages of K-2 concealed within what appeared to be legal documents. The substance, which can be sprayed onto paper and sold for inflated prices in correctional facilities, poses serious risks to inmate health and safety.
According to the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office, each page of K-2 can be sold for about $5,000 inside the jail, compared to approximately $50 on the outside. Sheriff Paul Heroux described this incident as the largest employee-related drug bust in the facility’s history, emphasizing the severe implications for jail security and inmate welfare.
After being confronted about her involvement, Hook resigned from her position in July. The Sheriff’s Office has since ramped up security measures, implementing additional screening protocols and deploying more drug-detection K9 units to prevent similar incidents in the future.
