Mary A. Yurasits, Beloved Northampton Resident, Passes at 94

URGENT UPDATE: Mary A. Yurasits, a cherished resident of Northampton, has passed away at the age of 94. She died peacefully on January 12, 2026, at Fellowship Community in Whitehall, leaving behind a legacy of love and community.

Born on November 6, 1931, in Kreidersville, Mary was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Loikits) Stutzenberger. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Yurasits, who passed away in 2024. A proud graduate of Northampton High School, Mary was an active member of the school’s Eight Balls club and was deeply involved in her local community.

Mary devoted many years of her life as a secretary at Novagratz Tax Office, where she became a beloved figure among colleagues and clients alike. Her faith was integral to her life; she was a long-time member of Queenship of Mary Catholic Church in Northampton, where she contributed her time and spirit.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Lorene Kahler (Randy), Rochelle Reice (Richard), and Sharon Urbanczuk (Roman), a son, Gary (Sherri), and an impressive lineage of 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was also the last surviving sibling of her sister, Rose Laury, and leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Tragically, she was preceded in death by her son, John, two grandchildren, and a nephew.

Services are set to take place on Saturday, January 17th, with calling hours at 8:30 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Queenship of Mary Catholic Church, located at 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m., with interment at the parish cemetery.
